MISSION STATEMENT
We at The Way Christian Fellowship strive to glorify God by introducing Jesus Christ to as many people as possible. Guiding them to be imitators of Christ, becoming a proactive community of believers in Lakewood and all the world.
OUR BELIEFS
While we believe in the basic primary doctrines of the Christian faith such as:
We hold these truths to be distinctive of Baptists and churches of like faith and order:
I. THE DEITY AND LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and the second part of the Triune Godhead (Philippians 2:5-11).
II. THE ABSOLUTE NECESSITY OF THE NEW BIRTH
The new birth (salvation) redeems a soul from hell, initiates a personal relationship with God, and precedes the indwelling spirit and God's provisions for His children (John 3:3,5,7).
III. REGENERATED CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
A new birth experience is a prerequisite to church membership (Acts 2:47 ).
IV. SALVATION BY FAITH ALONE
There is nothing an individual contributes to his salvation except to receive by faith the gift of salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9).
V. PRIESTHOOD, EQUALITY AND COMPETENCY OF ALL BELIEVERS
Every child of God has direct access to God through prayer and is directly responsible to God for his actions (Revelation 1:5-6).
VI. THE ETERNAL SECURITY OF ALL BELIEVERS
Once received, there is nothing that can rescind the gift of salvation (I Peter 1:5; Romans 8:28-39).
VII. THE BIBLE: THE SOLE AUTHORITY FOR FAITH AND PRACTICE
The Bible is the complete, inerrant, infallible word of God (II Timothy 3:16 -17).
VIII. AUTONOMY AND THEOCRACY OF THE LOCAL CHURCH
The head of the church is Christ and the local church is independent of any outside control (Matthew 18:15-17; Acts 13:1-3; Acts 15:1-35; I Corinthians 5:1-13; II Corinthians 8, 9).
IX. BELIEVER'S BAPTISM BY IMMERSION ONLY
Baptism is an ordinance of the Church and is administered by immersion following a salvation experience. Baptism does not bring salvation but symbolizes the meaning of salvation. (It is a picture of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.) (Romans 6:4)
X. SYMBOLISM OF THE LORD'S SUPPER
The Lord's Supper is the second ordinance of the church. Its practice and elements symbolize the body and blood of Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 11:23 -26).
XI. SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
The state will not exercise any control over the church nor will the church assert any legislative control over government (Matthew 22:15 -22).
XII. EVANGELISM OF THE WORLD THE SUPREME TASK OF THE CHURCH
It is the responsibility of every Christian and church to spread the gospel of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).
